Starting from the idea that only a small part of human thinking is consciously accessible, this video presents research into a language model's internals. Inspired by global workspace theory, it looks for a set of representations inside Claude that can be put into words and used for reasoning (called the "J-space" in the video), using tasks solved without writing out steps and instructions not to think about something.
